What is life coaching?
Life Coaching and Therapy are both excellent services grounded in the common goal of helping others. The main difference, therefore, lies in their approach. I have always explained it this way:
Psychotherapists are like Archaelogists. They're trained and incredibly adept at digging through the past to help us sort out and make sense of what transpired that is contributing to our present day experiences.
Life Coaches are like Architects. They focus on accepting where you are today, and helping you design and build where you want to be tomorrow.
Neither is better than the other as the goal is always the same: to help you live your best life. The difference is based on what you need. In many instances, a Coach is can be incredibly effective after someone has already done some good therapeutic work, if that's what was needed. Alternatively, working with both a Coach and Therapist at the same time can be incedibly empowering.
As both a Life Coach and Therapist, I am in the unique position to help my clients approach life from this dual perspective. While I don't practice as a Therapist, I use my training and understanding of therapy to assist my Coaching clients when they get stuck in the process along the way. Furthermore, I incorporate my training as a Reiki Master Teacher when needed to help my clients move through unseen obstacles energetically, thereby providing them with greater insight and space to heal.
